It has only been a week since the general election but the government have already announced plans to align the UK Infrastructure Bank and the British Business Bank, under a new National Wealth Fund that aims to inject billions of pounds from private investment into the economy.

This is great news for the angel investment sector, and we are looking forward to seeing how this goes.

What a busy week – today Martin Avison is attending #Climb24, the UK’s festival of innovation, industry and investment.

Climb24 is about showcasing innovation that is happening in cities outside of London and speed up investment into local and regional ecosystems – something angelgroups are passionate about.

Martin is looking forward to being part of the event and if you are attending too, be sure to say hello! 👋

As June is now upon us, we are welcoming back Amber Jones today – we can’t believe how quick times has gone!

Amber will be taking on the role of Operations Manager – we are excited to get her up to speed and to work together again.

Welcome back, Amber!

Recently True Tone Speakers pitched at one of our Leeds events at Ward Hadaway. It really is great to see such a wide range of businesses looking for funding, and our angel investors love to get hands on and see samples from the businesses pitching.

True Tone Speakers revolutionise audio products blending timeless design, seamless connectivity and exceptional sound, alongside a unique subscription model enabling a wider market to access premium audio.

We wish them every success!

EVENT FEEDBACK📣

“We both really enjoyed the day. Super well organised and a cracking way to start our journey into the world of Angel Networks. Some really useful feedback from some clearly experienced and switched-on investors, which is great for us. So grateful to you guys for hosting us and for looking after us.” – Stance Fitness Ltd | Techstars London ’22

It is great to receive such positive feedback from past businesses, and we wish all our businesses every success in the angelgroups process.

Today we are back in Leeds for our first event of the month. We will be seeing seven businesses pitch for funding from our room of angel investors. We wish them the very best of luck and hope for another successful day.

Thank you to NatWest Group for hosting us this month, and we look forward to seeing our investors and SMEs today.

It’s been another busy week at angelgroups – time flies when you’re having fun!

Yesterday we saw four businesses pitch online infront of a virtual room full of our investors and hearing feedback like this – ‘Super well organised and a cracking way to start our journey into the world of Angel Networks.’ makes us know it’s been a job well done.

We are just under a week away from our next in-person pitching event, where we get to see incredible SME’s pitch for funding from our group of angel investors.

We pride ourselves in ensuring we have enough networking time between the businesses and investors, just like in this photo to make sure the businesses can go into more detail and gain interest ahead of the DD sessions.

We hope you can join us, and if you would like more information please get in touch with Leanne on [email protected]

This year for IWD the focus is on inspiring inclusion to help forge a better, more inclusive world for women, and in the industry we work in this is something we focus on daily.

We love to see female angels, founders and businesses in such a male dominated industry and we took the opportunity this week to chat to some of the women we work with.

🗣 ‘Being a female angel investor is really important, as diversity matters; as shown by the shortage of funding for female-led businesses. I try to focus my angel investing on female-led or minority-led businesses, because I know from experience how much harder we have to work to get the recognition we deserve.’ Joanna M. – angel investor.

🗣 ‘I am passionate about raising the profile of female founders especially as a female founder myself. I have recently been selected by the UK Department of Business and Trade to join their women-led US trade mission in support of International Women’s Day 2024.’ Amy W. – SME.

We want to take this opportunity to celebrate incredible women in our industry and look forward to working together in the future to help more an inclusive business industry.

Last week ‘Edible Light Machine’ pitched to our angel investors. Their business is about creating unforgettable experiences for customers by making them heroes of the show and defining a new era in ultra-personalised visitor experiences and digital storytelling.

We think they definitely did that with this showstopper AI generated photo of Martin Avison, the resemblance is just uncanny!
