It’s been another busy week at angelgroups – time flies when you’re having fun!

Yesterday we saw four businesses pitch online infront of a virtual room full of our investors and hearing feedback like this – ‘Super well organised and a cracking way to start our journey into the world of Angel Networks.’ makes us know it’s been a job well done.

We are just under a week away from our next in-person pitching event, where we get to see incredible SME’s pitch for funding from our group of angel investors.

We pride ourselves in ensuring we have enough networking time between the businesses and investors, just like in this photo to make sure the businesses can go into more detail and gain interest ahead of the DD sessions.

We hope you can join us, and if you would like more information please get in touch with Leanne on [email protected]

This year for IWD the focus is on inspiring inclusion to help forge a better, more inclusive world for women, and in the industry we work in this is something we focus on daily.

We love to see female angels, founders and businesses in such a male dominated industry and we took the opportunity this week to chat to some of the women we work with.

🗣 ‘Being a female angel investor is really important, as diversity matters; as shown by the shortage of funding for female-led businesses. I try to focus my angel investing on female-led or minority-led businesses, because I know from experience how much harder we have to work to get the recognition we deserve.’ Joanna M. – angel investor.

🗣 ‘I am passionate about raising the profile of female founders especially as a female founder myself. I have recently been selected by the UK Department of Business and Trade to join their women-led US trade mission in support of International Women’s Day 2024.’ Amy W. – SME.

We want to take this opportunity to celebrate incredible women in our industry and look forward to working together in the future to help more an inclusive business industry.

Last week ‘Edible Light Machine’ pitched to our angel investors. Their business is about creating unforgettable experiences for customers by making them heroes of the show and defining a new era in ultra-personalised visitor experiences and digital storytelling.

We think they definitely did that with this showstopper AI generated photo of Martin Avison, the resemblance is just uncanny!

Our Leeds pitching event is well underway at Ward Hadaway, we have a room full of angels and a number of great businesses looking for investment.

We are hoping for a very successful event!

Good luck to all our SME’s.

angelgroups is brought together by passionate and experienced business investors, who want to help unlock the potential and ambition of UK businesses alongside Martin Avison and his team.

With monthly pitching sessions we see a plethora of talented founders and gain interest from our angels to take them through to due diligence. It is great to work with a range of founders from many different sectors, and we are always on the lookout for more.

If you are thinking of gaining investment for your business, then start your journey with us today!

SUCCESS!

Wow, what a great way to start our Thursday with our online pitching session. We saw 4 great businesses, and a virtual room full of angels. All businesses secured interest, and are now moving on to Due Diligence.

Congratulations to all our businesses on a successful morning, and we look forward to the next steps.

Tomorrow is our next online pitching event and we are really looking forward to seeing 4 great businesses pitch to hopefully secure funding and support from one of angels.

Last week Martin Avison travelled to London to take part in the UK Space Agency Entrepreneurial Spark Exotopic bootcamp, as one of their investment experts.

Martin attended a range of different sessions and also held his own. He met and spoke with some great people in the industry, and really enjoyed the two days.

FEEDBACK!

“I have been very impressed. The platform is great, the support and communication from you and your colleagues has been great. Martin has been brilliant and has really helped me define the business direction. I wish I had heard about you sooner” – Darren E.

Thank you, we love receiving feedback from our SMEs and angels! If you have attended an event recently, please leave us some feedback via email, Google or social media.

With the end of the tax year fast approaching, we are seeing an increase in investors looking to use up their SEIS/EIS allowances. We are also getting a lot of applications from businesses looking for investment, so it’s been a busy start to 2024!

If you an angel investor looking to invest or a business looking for investment then we would be delighted to hear from you. We run multiple pitching events each month – both online and in-person, so we are always looking for exciting high growth businesses and investors seeking opportunities.

After a very successful pitching event last week in Leeds, we are now heading in to due diligence to take a deeper look at each business.

One of the businesses we saw pitch with us was Aagrah Foods, who bought along a selection of their products for our angels to try – they were a huge hit, and tasted amazing!

We wish all our businesses every success in the next steps!
